Aloha, I'm Dr. Stephanie Han.

I am an award-winning author and educator.

My mission: empowering women through narrative. I do this through classes, newsletters, and writing. All lives are governed by text. For society to change, women must write.

My free monthly newsletter Woman. Warrior. Writer. features women authors sharing how they have come to author their lives, and info on classes, writing, creativity, and health.

I was recently featured in an article titled “The Divorce Whisperer” on Oprah Daily! Divorce is a feminist issue. Check out BREAK: How to Write Your Divorce Story, a guide on Divorce Story Structure, and more resources on my Write Your Divorce Story page.

In a circuitous way. I have always loved to write. I started writing stories in elementary school and was a devoted pen pal to a friend who moved to Norway when I was in 4th grade. I wrote for my junior high newsletter, but I was pre-med in college because that’s what my immigrant parents wanted. I switched to art history and worked at an art museum for years—my favorite part of the job was writing explanatory labels. I made the switch to journalism in my 30s after realizing the “making rich people happy” part of my chosen career did not align with my values.

Meet Sejal Shah

I grew up always reading and later in middle school and high school, writing. The need to write only grew stronger as I grew up and writing became the grounding practice of my life. I see writing as a fundamental, grounding spiritual practice as important to me as yoga and meditation and walking—even more important sometimes.
